nurse_with_baby2Appointments All doctors are on the obstetric list. To see a community midwife during your pregnancy you should call to book an appointment (8546 7711 ext 2435). The midwives currently see patients at The Children's Centre, Burlington Road on Thursday mornings.

Postnatal Checks

Postnatal checks are done at six to eight weeks by a doctor.

Asthma Care

Sandra Wise and Dr Iqbal have a special interest in asthma and will see new referrals. Routine follow ups are seen by the asthma nurse. Appointments should be booked at reception. given. 

Baby Clinic And Child Development Checks

All doctors are approved for paediatric surveillance. The health visitors are available, by appointment, every Thursday afternoon at the surgery for advice. They will arrange with you directly for eight month checks and for the seven month hearing test. 


Immunisation of under fives is generally done at the children's clinic on Thursday afternoon between 13.30 - 16.00. Before their first injection all new babies must have a six week health check with a doctor. 


Patients are seen individually for assessment at the surgery or at Acre Road Clinic, Kingston. Group sessions are organised where appropriate. Access to this service is by prior consultation with your doctor, who can then arrange the referral. 

Diabetic Clinic

Sandra Wise and Dr Kumar run several weekly sessions Tuesday to Friday. A monthly 'in-house' session is run from 13.00 - 16.00 by the hospital dietician. Referrals are via the doctor where medically indicated.nbsp;

Contraception and Sexual Health

All doctors and the practice nurse can provide this service. Coils and implants are fitted by appointment after consultation with the doctor.

Karen Gear And Amy Sowell run sessions on an individual basis. Please ask at reception for details

Practice nurses can help with minor injuries, dressings, removal of stitches, ear syringing, cervical smears, blood tests and blood pressure checks. Advice on health matters such as weight reduction or stopping smoking can be obtained from them. Vaccinations for travel or annual flu jabs (Oct/Nov) are all administered by the nurses. (see Special Services for other practice nurse duties.)

Hospital Referrals

If a referral is appropriate you will be offered a choice of hospitals agreed by the PCT. Prescriptions given to you at the hospital must be dispensed by the pharmacy there.

Private Referrals

If you wish to be referred to a private hospital we would ask you to bear in mind the following: To ensure that your appointment is at a convenient time you will make your own arrangements, allowing a minimum of three working days for the letter to be prepared and faxed to the hospital. Private prescriptions issued by consultants cannot always be repeated by a GP if the drugs are unfamiliar to them.
